Elon Musk claims his tunnel construction company, The Boring Company, could build it for "1,000 times less" than the projected $19.8 trillion cost.
Experts proposed a project for a $20 trillion hyperloop called the "Transatlantic Tunnel" linking New York and London.

The tunnel, which would rely on advanced vacuum tube technology to enable trains to travel at speeds exceeding 3,000 mph, could theoretically make the trip between the two cities faster than most domestic flights. In fact, the project estimates that it would take under an hour.
Notably, a similar structure already connects France and the U.K. Built over six years, the Channel Tunnel links Folkestone in Kent, England to Coquelles in Pas-de-Calais, France.
However, skepticism remains high, especially considering the sheer scale and timeline of such a project.

For perspective, the Channel Tunnel stretches only 31 miles. Given its length, the Transatlantic Tunnel would take a staggering 782 years to complete.
While vacuum technology developments bring the dream closer to plausibility, it’s clear this futuristic underwater train is far from becoming reality.
