Did you know Apple iOS 18 Adoption Hits 68%, Surpassing iOS 17 by 2% Amid Sluggish Generative AI Interest

 

According to statistics from Apple, 68% of the iPhone users are now using iOS 18, and 76% who have models which were released in the last four years. It seems that iPhone users are not quick to check generative AI  products like Apple Intelligence and that's why they have not upgraded their phones yet. iOS 18 adoption is somewhat same as adoption for iOS 17 last year but iOS 18’s adoption is 2% higher than iOS 17.

Apple iPad users are also not in any rush to upgrade their iPads to the latest OS, with only 53% of iPad users upgrading them to iPadOS 18. There is a 63% adoption of iPadOS 18 in iPads released in the past four years. 10% of the iPadOS users are using an OS even older than iPadOS17.  

There are some good features in iOS 18, like features to customize home and lock screens, Rich Communication Services (RCS) and redesigned photos app too. iOS 18.1 has some Apple Intelligence features while ChatGPT integration was also added in iOS 18.2. Now Apple will release iOS 18.3 which will have more Apple Intelligence features like Visual Intelligence which will help users in identifying different animals and plants by pointing their cameras at them. Apple Intelligence will be in the new update by default but users will be able to turn it off if they want. It is also worth mentioning here that iPhone’s sales dropped about 4.1% in Q4 2024, making up 23.2% of the market.
