Did you know Grok Finally Lands Its Own Standalone App in America

Elon Musk’s Grok which is the first AI chatbot from X has just made history by landing its very own standalone app in the US.

This is major news that many anticipated users have been waiting for since its launch in 2023.

The independent app will give rise to greater discovery and ensure it can compete with other similar archrivals in the industry. And as the old saying goes, the more competition, the better.

Grok’s new app underwent a soft launch in Australia at the end of December last year. After that, we saw it expand its foothold in India and now it’s here in the US. For now, Musk did confirm that it’s up for grabs in just six countries, and that too only on iOS.

After it arrived in America, there was a strong need for Elon Musk to push forward for more growth. The goal was to make Grok more popular amongst X users through push alerts announcing its arrival. However, unlike different competitors out there today, this push wasn’t all organic. We didn’t see any arrival of paid ads inside or outside the App Store.

Many were curious about how a 100% organic push would arise and what benefits it would bring for Grok. After seeing the stats during its first week of downloads with other similar rivals in the industry, it ranked fourth, above Claude. Remember, it was competing with the big names in the world of AI including ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, and Gemini.

Now, stats from App Intelligence reveal how the Grok standalone platform was installed nearly 184,000 times during its first week through the App Store in America and Canada. Meanwhile, Claude was just downloaded 96,000 times. In third place, it was Microsoft’s Copilot while Google’s Gemini took the runner-up position. ChatGPT reigned supreme.

While all three did kickstart with big advertising budgets, Grok chose a more organic means for spread. We saw OpenAI spend a huge sum of funds for its ads on Apple Search. Meanwhile, Google chose to flood the web and roll out sales to market Gemini. Microsoft purchased Superbowl ads for its Copilot while Grok did not.

The launch is a major win for the AI chatbot Grok. Having a separate app can help it compete better with the likes of ChatGPT better. It just needs more time, especially if the launch is done globally.
