Did you know Meta Confirms Its Community Notes Feature Will Be Enabled for Organic Content Only and Not For Paid Ads
Meta’s decision to follow in the footsteps of X and activate Community
Notes to combat misinformation is certainly a debatable one. However,
despite the criticism coming in its direction, the tech giant has
decided to move on with the call.
Today, WSJ confirmed
more about the feature and how it would only apply to organic content.
This means those posts that the company has not paid to promote in
simple words paid ads might not get any Community Notes.
Certain
aspects of the feature are set to change but as per the latest news from
the Wall Street Journal, adding the brand and influencer organic posts
could not be subject to Community Notes when they go live.
They
hope to make the switch to Community Notes in the next few months in the
US. Similar to other product launches, they hope to keep on evaluating
and bettering it over the next couple of months, the tech giant’s
spokesperson shared.
Any
kind of assertions made about the product’s workings that Meta has yet
to share or confirm are pure speculations, the company shared.
Therefore, they urged users to refrain from believing everything
published unless the source was Meta.
Meta is clearly making
serious changes before the upcoming inauguration ceremony of new
president-elect Donald Trump. They’ve scrapped the popular fact-checking
program and replaced it with X’s Community Notes.
The company
hopes to start rolling it out over the next few months and better the
model throughout the year. For now, the US is where the first rollout
will arise but other countries are set to follow soon.
