Did you know President Trump Wants Either Elon Musk or Larry Ellison To Purchase TikTok As App’s US Status in Limbo

President Trump has made it very clear who he considers to be the right potential buyer for TikTok’s US ownership rights.

During a recent press conference, Trump was asked if he thought Elon Musk was the right choice. To that, he replied yes but also threw in the name of Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison as another potential buyer.

The matter was raised during an event where Trump would sign the US into a major joint venture investment for AI. Trump said he was open to both individuals making the purchase, only if they were interested.

At the moment, the app’s status in the US is in limbo after undergoing a temporary shutdown across America and then getting reinstated by Trump’s executive order. This has given the platform a timeline of 75 days to divest 50% ownership rights to the US.

While the platform is yet to speak on the matter, the Chinese government did hint that this might be a possibility and how the app could be bought by Musk. The news comes after the Supreme Court upheld the national security law that punished app stores and any service providers for hosting the platform unless a sale ensued.

Today, the value of TikTok in America is $50 billion but Trump was adamant to claim that it was worthless without any US permit for operations in the country. After getting one, he was confident that it would be worth $1 trillion.

Musk is certainly a very close companion of Donald Trump and his administration. He’s also a leading financial backer whose decision-making has influenced many of Trump’s executive orders. Meanwhile, Larry Ellison is also a long-time friend and supporter of the new president, not to mention his company being the cloud infrastructure partner in America.

Trump tried to sugarcoat the deal as an ideal situation where both parties would mutually benefit. It’s quite the opposite of the view he first had about the platform in 2020. At that time, he signed an executive order to ban it, highlighting growing threats to America’s national security.

We did see the CEO of TikTok attend the inauguration ceremony held in DC on Monday but ByteDance has its lips sealed on the matter. Both Musk and Ellison are yet to comment on the scenario as well.
