Did you know Big Tech Is Serving Ads On Websites Publishing Child Abuse Images to Fund Operations
Some of the world’s biggest tech firms are serving ads on websites
entailing pictures of child abuse. This means they are in turn funding
operations and shining a bright light into the dark web of digital ads.
The
matter was said to be so severe that many couldn’t help but speak about
it including one research firm analyst who goes by the name Krzysztof
Franaszek. He is the owner of Adalytics in America and while studying
more about ads placed across the Department of Homeland Security
websites, he encountered the horrifying dark web.
There were
some very sick and bizarre pictures of child abuse online about a young
kid. The shocking part is how there were ads for Fortune 500
organizations running right beside them.
This
is when he got active and immediately reported the matter to the FBI
and the Homeland Security Department. There were close to 35 pictures
flagged by the company on the webpage that met its classification for
CSAM. As per the center, it didn’t waste any time and the ads were
removed with immediate effect.
One FBI spokesperson shared more
about how the bureau reviews all such dangerous conduct but doesn’t
comment on tips. But with a little more investigation, it was clear that
the problem was deeper than what appeared on the surface. There are so
many questions about pumping huge sums of funds into undesirable and
illegal parts of the web.
As per the latest report from Adalytics,
these systems are run by firms such as Amazon, Microsoft, and even
Google. They keep funneling funds to owners of websites that host such
illegal pictures of abuse. The fact that some of the biggest companies
in the world were running ads against adult content is so worrisome.
Some
of these ads were from Starbucks, Mastercard, Nestle, Blackburn,
Unilever, and even the US Government. Now, experts want answers from
tech giants as to why this is being allowed and why they continue to
fund such material with young kids at the center of it all.
Google
was called out for its ad system and how it’s hosting this kind of
activity that produces a fund stream for criminal operations causing
harm to young minds. The matter is really a huge one for the digital ads
world. Most people using the internet would be familiar with it and
there are at times situations where those running it don’t have a clue
about where the funds might be going.
The problem is how simply you can design a website and make money
through advertising networks. It doesn’t cost a whole lot to operate
them which serve millions of pictures each month.
All we can say is that it’s high time that Big Tech opens its eyes before it’s too late.
