The former is more related to content that followers can see so no reach gets restricted here. The latter is the content shown to non-followers so that is where the app might restrict reach.
What are some reasons that the app might not add your content in recommendations? Well, a drop in reach could be linked to the app’s recommendation violations. Some common problems include content getting flagged for violations inside community guidelines. It might have to do with hate, misinformation, or explicit content. Secondly, it might be linked to videos with watermarks from other apps like TikTok that could be restricted. Then you’ve got content on repeat that is of poor quality or misleading in nature. And last but not least, it has to do with engagement issues that might make it feel like spam. For instance, giving out too many giveaways or perhaps comment baiting.
If your account does get impacted, you can simply head on over to the Account Status inside settings to witness if your content meets eligibility recommendations.
Mosseri says that users can better reach by checking their account status. Simply click on settings and see if the app flagged any problems linked to the content. Next, you can analyze to see your insights. See the rates of likes, shares, and views. Are people really seeing the reel until the end, are they engaging with it, and are they passing it on to others are simple things to be mindful of.
