Did you know New ChatGPT Beta Version Update Allows Users to Replace Gemini As the Default AI Assistant

The latest ChatGPT beta version update is giving users the chance to replace Google’s Gemini as the device’s default AI assistant.

This means users can now long press with a button or swipe up through the phone’s corner to change their default AI assistant. The latest update to the phone’s beta gives us a hint that it’s now enabled as users’ default option.

Today, there are a host of AI assistants in the market. From Google’s Gemini to Perplexity, and more. The above two mentioned are present as default options on Android phones. This means it would be your go-to selections when a user activates it using a power button shortcut that was around for a while now since the time of Google Assistant.

The makers of ChatGPT shared how the newest model on the list for default options on Android has come after many requests. You just need to make sure you’ve got ChatGPT (Beta) installed at the start if you’d like to select it as your default assistant. So if you’re not happy with Google’s Gemini, there’s no reason you need to break a sweat any more.

For now, the feature is in beta. So this means it does not have the same capabilities that you’d expect from Gemini or other market leaders like Perplexity. To activate it, just long press the power tab and that will trigger the model’s voice mode through a bubble overlay across screens.

At the start, the platform will try to open up through its chat mode. After a while, you’ll see it make the switch over to the overlay that is much preferred. The latter is the same version that’s triggered through the latest quick settings shortcut rolled out at the start of this year.
