Did you know Publishers Decry AI Mode’s Impact on Traffic, While Google Insists UI Tweaks Will Solve the Issue
Search giant Google just addressed some serious concerns from a host of publishers related to its latest AI mode.
The company’s VP for Product, Robby Stein,
shed light on a series of publisher concerns, including how it can
really impact their business online. Thanks to the new AI mode, fewer
users are likely to actually click on the publisher’s site.

Google was asked how they were combatting the issue and addressing people’s worries on this front. The fact that all of their material is getting scraped online and the fact that now there’s no incentive to head on over to their sites is very upsetting.
Google replied by saying how the team is working to make it simpler to
click on such links. There are more UI updates that they’ve spoken about
and more are coming soon. Users want more and they’re stuck on giving
them exactly what they want.
The latest AI setting will also
reply to different queries and let individuals ask for any kind of
follow up to explore various facets and design new chances for webpages
to rank on Google.
We’ve heard this from the search engine giant in the past when they rolled out AI Overviews. Google even went as far as to mention
how this would lead to greater clicks and no one really believed them.
As per studies from third party groups, CTR via AI Overviews is
horrendous. Google is getting sued over the matter as well.
The AI Mode has so many links and citations, but who is going to click
on these comprehensive replies is beyond our minds, not to mention the
bundle of links they come with. Google concludes by saying they are
trying to make it easy for users to click on pages. More UI updates will
be coming soon, that was shown inside the announcement posts. It’s
something we usually hear a lot about, but how this AI mode will change
search, we’re keen on seeing soon.
