A Tesla owner has taken a step further in sustainable transportation by charging his vehicle using 1,000 watts of solar panels mounted directly on the car.

With two 500-watt panels at the front and rear, he can generate enough power to drive approximately 30 miles after eight hours of charging. This portable setup offers independence from fixed charging stations and highlights the growing interest in eco-friendly, off-grid solutions for electric vehicles.

While the concept is practical in sunny regions like Colorado, it may face challenges in less sunny areas due to limited solar exposure and space constraints on vehicles. Tesla has also explored this direction with its Solar Roof and ‘Charge on Solar’ feature, enabling home-based solar energy to charge EVs.

Although still limited by hardware and daily sunlight availability, mobile solar charging systems represent a promising step toward reducing emissions and making electric transportation more self-sufficient.
