The Global Foldable Smartphone Market Forecast by Counterpoint Research shows that there was only a 2.9% YoY increase in the global foldable Smartphone market. The report found that Samsung faced some challenges because of political instability which affected its overall market value, while OPPO reduced production for its more affordable clamshell foldables. Many OEMs saw a two or threefold growth but these factors decreased the overall market expansion of foldable smartphones.

Counterpoint predicts that 2025 is going to be worse for the foldable smartphone market and there will be a single-digit negative growth. Jene Park, Senior Analyst, says that there aren't any positives being seen this year but there are a lot of negatives. It isn't a sign about the market reaching its peak, rather it's a regrouping phase for 2026. The foldable smartphone market is going to gain some momentum in 2026 with Apple’s entry and release of new clamshell foldables.

Counterpoint Research's Foldable and Rollable Display Shipment and Technology Report also highlights that 2026 will see some growth in the global foldable smartphones market, with its order books filling up. Right now, the market doesn't look like it's growing but these are the signs that the market is about to transform with its much-anticipated growth.
