Did you know Microsoft Expands AI-Powered Search as Google Prepares AI Mode Launch

 

In March, we saw Google share the arrival of a new AI mode that was reserved for Search. Now, we can confirm that Microsoft has entered the race with its own Copilot Search on Bing.

The latest rollout does exactly what Google’s AI Mode promises. We saw it first popping up during the latter part of February, where Microsoft shared another dedicated UI for rolling out searches that gave instant replies in a more focused manner through AI.

While the classic blue links might not be there, there is a new AI summary of queries or search, and a whole list of resources from the internet that’s seen below it. The software giant shared how it was testing out the feature nearly a month back, but now chose to release it widely and also on Bing’s UI.

The news comes to us thanks to eagle eye viewers on X, who say the company is showing Copilot Search as the initial search filter across Bing. That’s more ahead of any dedicated shortcuts for the entire Copilot experience. As mentioned by Microsoft, it’s hoping to experiment and roll out generative search through mega efforts.

The change does not seem to be popping up too widely for all users right now. But through our account, we do see it showing up as a new shortcut, hidden across the ‘more’ overflow category.

It’s obvious how tech giant Microsoft is really pushing on this entire experience, right at the same time as Google gears up to launch the AI Mode. The feature was officially shared in the early part of last month and right now is in beta with a group of users. However, it’s not determined when there would be a widespread release. All free users who signed up for this and were added to the waitlist are now using it since last week. So we’ll definitely keep an eye out for the mega release for all, so stay tuned!
