Did you know OpenAI Anticipates Delays in New Image Generation Tool for ChatGPT Due to Capacity Challenges
A new thread of posts on X was shared on Monday by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman discussing the release of ChatGPT’s new image generation tool.
It
seems like the latest product is set to face some serious product
delays due to capacity challenges. The company does hope to ensure
things remain under control, but new releases might witness a delay for
this reason. It similarly warned that things might undergo various
challenges or even break as they’re still trying to figure things out.
The
company’s latest image generation capability arose with a lot of
fanfare and controversy. The fact that it carries the ability to
reproduce various styles, such as animations like Studio Ghibli, is
something fans were excited for. In a new array of posts, the company
says it’s working hard to catch up to people’s expectations since the
launch. They spoke about teams working around the clock, including late
nights and even on weekends, to ensure services remain on top.
Monday
was a great example to see how, in just one hour, we saw ChatGPT add
one million new users. Today, it has 500M weekly users and 20M paying
subscribers. This is up from 300M users and 15.5M subscribers we
witnessed towards the end of 2024.
To ease all related capacity
issues, the tech giant was forced to delay releases of tools for image
generation for those with free subscriptions and then disable video
generation for new Sora users, which is the firm’s suite of AI media
tools.
