CATL has unveiled the world’s first large-scale EV battery production line powered by humanoid robots, marking a major leap in automated manufacturing. The robot-run line is operating at CATL’s Luoyang facility in Henan and is designed to replace humans in complex and high-risk tasks.

The humanoid robot, named Xiaomo, handles precision work such as battery connector insertion and end-of-line testing. Developed in partnership with Spirit AI, Xiaomo uses advanced vision-language-action models to adapt to changing conditions and prevent component damage. CATL says the system achieves over 99% connection success, triples daily output, and strengthens its position as a global leader in battery technology.
