In the wilds of northeast Kenya stands a creature unlike any other on Earth
In the wilds of northeast Kenya stands a creature unlike any other on Earth — the world’s only known white giraffe. His rare leucism gives him a ghostly beauty, but also makes him an easy target.
Once, there were three. In 2020, poachers killed the white female and her calf, leaving this lone male as the last of his kind. To protect him, rangers fitted a GPS tracker on his horn, allowing round-the-clock monitoring.
His survival now rests on the dedication of rangers and the support of communities determined to make sure this living treasure never vanishes.
