Scientists have created a new hydrogel that behaves much like real human skin, combining strength, flexibility, and fast self-healing.
Tests showed the gel can heal about 80 to 90 percent of its damage within four hours and fully recover within 24 hours.
This was made possible by ultra-thin clay nanosheets that form a tightly connected polymer network inside the gel, allowing it to stretch, resist damage, and recover after being cut.
Researchers believe this breakthrough could lead to major improvements in wound healing, artificial skin, soft robotics, and self-repairing medical materials.
