REST IN PEACE, GRAMMA

Gramma was a Galápagos tortoise who lived at the San Diego Zoo for nearly a century, and she recently passed away at an estimated 141 years old.

She was older than the zoo itself, living quietly through wars, presidencies, and so many human eras.

Caretakers called her gentle and sweet, and when age finally caught up, the team made the painful decision to let her go peacefully.

Today, people remember her as the Queen of the Zoo, an ambassador for her species, and a reminder of how precious long life truly is
