Did you know Donald Trump Criticizes EU For Plotting Against American Tech Firms and Imposing Heavy Fines

It wouldn’t be wrong to mention that the European Union does not seem to be in the best place with American tech giants such as Apple. And now, Donald Trump is not holding back on what he feels is a targeted plot against the country’s growing tech sector.

Trump blasted the EU after appearing virtually at this year’s World Economic Forum. He made a series of comments about how the rulings against iPhone maker Apple were more like taxation than anything else.

Trump shared more on the matter including how adding hefty fines against Google, Apple, and Meta is just a pre-planned scheme to mint more money. He further called the act of winning $15 billion from Apple, billions more from Google, and now getting after Meta in the same way as unlawful behavior against American tech giants.

He emphasized how all those on the list were American companies and no matter what they did, they would continue to remain American. The Apple case referenced by Trump had to do with its long-running lawsuit over taxes from Ireland that just ended. As per the EU, the company’s tax deal with the country was unlawful. Therefore, the Cupertino firm was ruled to repay all those major taxes which cost billions.

Trump’s comments are not being appreciated by many who feel he’s always been a hypocrite in his dealings and this matter was no exception. One expert shared how Trump rolled out an entire campaign in the US about using taxes, forcing laws to dictate how foreign firs should operate, and also indulging in trade wars. So now seeing him fight with other nations on a similar ordeal is shocking and selfish.

Other than standing up boldly for US tech firms, Trump shared more about the economic policies of the EU in a more broad context. As per the Republican leader, the EU does not treat America nicely. He cited deficits worth hundreds of billions with the region. Trump reiterated how America was not happy about that and how they will be doing something about this very soon.

The fact that these arguments come just a few days after taking charge of the White House goes to show how the relations between the EU and Apple will only get more complex with time.
