Did you know OpenAI Is Designing an Internal Prototype for an X-Style Social Network
OpenAI is really diving deep into the world of social media. The company is reportedly working on an internal prototype that’s very much like popular social media giant X.
While
the project is just in the early stages, the company has designed an
internal prototype that’s based on the latest image generator. The
latter went viral recently and really pumped up user figures as well as
subscriptions.
Right now, it’s no major surprise that the AI
giant is really working hard to expand its success in this domain, but
the information we have right now is limited. It might follow several
other previous prototypes that made it big in the organization, like
SearchGPT. The latter started off as separate URLs before it made a
debut inside ChatGPT under a new name called ChatGPT Search.
One
social network might be bringing in more users, which is great for the
platform, but what’s even more important is how it provides the company
with a mega trove of data for training AI models. Remember, it no longer
has to worry about copyright lawsuits linked to training models on data
found online without consent.
The model would have complete
access to both Shares and Likes and the people that they’re interacting
with. The company already does this with the Instagram app. Elon Musk’s
Grok chatbot is similar to this front. It’s living inside X and training
on user tweets until they choose to opt out.
It
might even be a huge shut-up call to Elon Musk, whose battle with the
firm continues to heat up on various fronts. The duo was seen fighting
about social media apps after Musk chose to add a mega $97.4 billion bid
to purchase OpenAI. Clearly, Altman didn’t stay hush on it. He did
offer another deal to purchase Twitter if Musk would like. From the
looks of it, he’s designing one of his own.
We must remember how
a social part of ChatGPT might give rise to bigger impacts on society,
other than the usual. There might be more AI-based content rolling
around online. It might also mean Sam Altman will have his own channel
to voice his thoughts, like Musk for X and Trump for Truth Social.
Altman
mostly uses X to post his thoughts, several times in a single day. His
follower count is 3.6 million. Moreover, his content ranges from the
likes of product launches to introspective ideas about his personal life
and how people once hated him for rolling out ChatGPT. So the benefits
are there, both for the CEO and the company in general.
